Amazon is warning customers that Xbox Series X preorders may not arrive tomorrow. In an email to some Amazon customers, the retailer says it expects to ship some consoles “in the coming weeks as we receive more inventory in November and December.” Amazon estimates that the affected preorders will receive the new Xbox units by December 31st or before.
The emails were sent to a variety of people, and some who have ordered on Amazon haven’t received delivery notification just one day before the console launch. It’s surprising to see these emails arrive less than 24 hours before the game console was supposed to ship, but it’s unclear how many were affected by the delay.
The email said:
We’re contacting you with an update regarding your order of Xbox Series X. We expect to ship your console in the coming weeks as we receive more inventory in November and December. At this time, we anticipate that you will receive your Xbox Series X by 12/31 or before. We are making every effort to get it to you as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.

Amazon sent a similar email to several customers who ordered the PS5 in September. It warned that some deliveries might not arrive on November 12 and that they dispatched just days after preorders had started.
