How To Activate Android’s Dark Mode for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides

I became a person who strongly believed in using dark mode on my cellphone. Not because of its advantages in saving battery (although it is not a matter of sneezing), but because I have a habit of reading in low light conditions (or almost no light), and the dark mode is much more gentle on me. eye.

While iOS and Android have introduced system-wide dark mode to mobile phones, Google is now launching features into the Docs, Sheets, and Slides applications on Android phones so you can set each application to be displayed in dark or light mode separately.

Here's how you set it up for Docs, Sheets, or Slides on an Android phone:

• Open your app and tap on the “hamburger” lines in the upper left corner.
• Select “Settings.”
• At the top of the page, you’ll see the link for the theme. Tap on “Choose Theme” and select either “Dark,” “Light,” or “System default.”

On the settings page, select the “Choose theme.”

You can choose dark or light modes, or just go with the system default.

If you use dark mode and need to temporarily view your document in bright mode instead (for example, so you can better see how it will look printed or to other readers), you can do it from within the document:

• Select the three dots in the upper right corner.
• Tap on “View in light theme.” If you want to go back to the dark theme, just follow the same directions.

You can temporarily go back to the light theme.

Note that if you choose to set your application to a light theme or system default, the option to change it in the document is not available — you can only do this for dark themes.
