This is the reason there is no calculator on the iPad

107 - There are some relatively easy questions but still, there is no answer. One question that has confused Apple iPad users is the lack of a native calculator application. Besides Apple offering a calculator application on the iPhone, Apple Watch, and even macOS devices, the iPad can't have it.

Now, Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering at Apple revealed the reason behind the calculator not being installed on the iPad. In an interaction with popular technology YouTuber Marques Brownlee, Craig said, the calculator application was not included in the first iPad because at that time Steve Jobs felt the calculator was not too important for the iPad.

Craig explained that Apple still hasn't made a calculator application for iPad that would make people say "This is the greatest iPad calculator app."

"There’s some things that we have not done because we would want to do something really distinctly great in that space. We want to do it when we can do it really, really well. And we honestly just haven’t gotten around to doing it great," he explained.

However, Apple may be working on the biggest calculator application for iPad because Craig also said "that day may come" when the iPad will be shipped with the default calculator application.

In the QnA session, Craig gave the same reason for not entering the default weather application on the iPad.

Apple recently acquired the company behind Dark Sky, a popular weather application available on Android that suggests that Apple is working on the weather application and could be the biggest weather application Apple wants for its iPad users.
