Fortnite teases collaboration with Stranger Things ahead of new season release

Fortnite Battle Royale has had a lot of collaborations in the last three years. Since Chapter 2 was released, Epic Games has added hundreds of collaboration skins to the game.

According to the latest report, 50 percent of the skins released in Chapter 3 so far are collaboration skins. We can expect this number to be even higher as there are rumors of a new collaboration coming soon.

If this recent theory turns out to be true, we're about to get another Fortnite x Stranger Things venture. Epic Games has released some interesting files for game data with the latest update. Most point to other collaborations with popular shows.

The Fortnite x Stranger Things collaboration could happen again

Epic Games has collaborated with popular TV shows in the past. The first Fortnite x Stranger Things collaboration took place during Season 9 and players were excited about it.

Twitter user FNBRintel recently posted an interesting theory about another potential partnership between video games and shows.

With the v21.10 update, the developers of Fortnite Battle Royale have added a new set to the game's data. The set is currently encrypted and hasn't been released into the game yet, but its codename is "WaffleWarrior."

As fans of the show know, the main character, Eleven, only eats waffles. Even if Twitter users admit that this could be a stretch, it could also hint at another Fortnite x Stranger Things collaboration.

This isn't the first time Epic Games has used codename skins to hint at future content. This had happened many times before and the codename was no coincidence. However, we'll have to wait to find out if it references a popular character on the show or something else.

A new collaboration might be released soon

If Eleven comes to Fortnite Battle Royale, players can get it right away. The next Fortnite x Stranger Things collaboration could be released on Friday, July 1.

Season 4 of Stranger Things was released on May 27 and features seven episodes. However, this is only the first set of episodes, with the second coming out on July 1.

Since Epic Games has added skins to the game data, players don't even need to update their clients to get them. However, we could get another update on Tuesday, June 28, which could bring more files about potential collaborations.

The first Fortnite x Stranger Things collaboration was released on July 5, 2019. It arrived just one day after Season 3 was released and adding characters from the show turned out to be a fantastic idea for promotion.

During the first collaboration, players got the Demogorgon and Chief Hopper skins. This skin hasn't been out since November 9, 2019, and is one of the rarest Item Shop assets of all time.

If Epic Games does plan on collaborating again with a TV show, we can expect these two rare skins to return as well. Apart from that, there may be some other skins. The first collaboration also brought some minor changes to the in-game map, such as portals and Scoops Ahoy, the ice cream parlor from the show.
