Xiaomi is quickly taking over the smartphone world with its budget devices. Dominating the Chinese and Indian markets, the company has succeeded in presenting low-priced smartphones combined with the specifications of its flagship devices.

To achieve such low prices, Xiaomi is doing a lot of cost-cutting and trying to make profits in other areas such as targeting ads (nonsense ads in MIUI apps), encouraging users to use the pre-installed MIUI app (Bloatware), and more.

If you are someone who is bothered by bloatware on Mi devices, here's how to remove bloatware from MIUI devices.

What is Bloatware on Xiaomi Devices?

The term Bloatware is used for smartphone applications that are developed by manufacturers such as Samsung, Xiaomi, HTC, etc., and cannot be uninstalled via standard means.

Unless you root your device, which is a tedious task, you can't remove or disable bloatware. Here, I have put together a few methods by which you can finally get rid of the MIUI apps that are feeding your RAM without going through the rooting process.

1. MIUI Hidden Settings

The Hidden Settings for the MIUI app makes it easy for developers to perform formerly complex tasks in a few taps. For instance, you can access the Notification log, which was challenging to get into before.

The app has tabs for different Android versions including Android 7, Android 8, and Android 9. You can opt for any one of the Android versions, depending upon the MIUI version installed on your Xiaomi device. With the help of MIUI hidden features, you can get rid of some (not all) pre-installed apps (You can also uninstall the Google apps).

Is it safe to remove Xiaomi Bloatware?

It depends! First, Xiaomi itself recommends not to follow such practices, so in that case, it's not safe at all. But again, they are the main culprit, so skip their warnings for now.

Apart from that, Xiaomi bloatware removal can also be done by rooting the phone. Now, this is actually a tricky method unless you know your stuff. A failed rooting procedure can damage your phone.

Many users also perceive non-Google apps as bloatware, even though they are good or bad. Sometimes, this app offers a better experience than the Google app.
